Fred Freud, di Lee Hazlewood
Conoscete
Lee Hazlewood, cari amici di rete?
Io no. L'ho incrociato per caso.
Ed è il caso a costellare ed intessere i fili della vita.
Basta lasciarsi sorprendere.
Sentiamoci, come musica della mattina:

Cake or Death , 2006
Now, at the age of 77 and suffering from renal cancer, Hazlewood has produced
Cake or Death (a title in reference to his comic hero, Eddie Izzard) which he says is to be his swan song. The album is a selection of old and new songs performed with a cast of musicians he has either previously worked with or wanted to work alongside. The stellar group includes Duane Eddy, Neil Diamond guitarist Richard Bennett, blues singer Tommy Parsons, Scandinavian jazz singer Ann Kristin Hedmark and German actor Bela B. Despite this high calibre of artists, the album remains Hazlewood’s from start to finish. And you should not shy away from
Cake or Death thinking it to be a self-indulgent ‘later life’ album, like so many made recently and flaunted on the Jools Holland show for a pat on the back.
Cake or Death should be put in the league of quality ‘mature’ albums like Warren Zevon’s
The Wind.
